"It combines a lot of facts woven into a story that I have to call fiction - although almost everthing in it actually happened. Obviously, there were some sticky security issues involved. I had to make some changes for those reasons, though the Missileers who have read the story are concerned that I may have said too much. I've been working on releasing the story for almost 30 years but I didn't want to publish the book until the time was right and I was sure it would honor the service of everyone involved.

"Whenever an historical figure speaks it is a quote from a researched source. Blending facts into fiction is a dance. The goal is to honor the truth while making it readable and interesting."

An award winning veteran producer for radio, television, stage, and the screen, Steve earned a "Best Picture" award at the Secret City Film Festival for his comedy I Flunked Sunday School as well as wide critical acclaim for the over 30 musicals and plays he has written and produced over the years.

Steve and his wife Ruth live in Houston and have three grown children, a grandson, and a Yorkie. The cat isn't theirs - they are owned by the cat.
