Based on True Events

On the eve of Nixon's resignation, the Soviet Union takes a desperate and extremely ill-advised move that presses the Strategic Air Command, North American Air Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Secretary of Defense to the edge of nuclear launch.

Trapped by an iron clad DO NOT DISTURB order from the President, the leadership must make a difficult decision. If this IS an attack - they are running out of time. If it is NOT an attack and they tell the President... and he sees it as a way out of the Watergate mess... will things escalate beyond the point of no return?

In mid-Missouri, off-duty Missile Launch Officer, Lt. Gray Crawford is in the unique position to put two and two together. With his home 1/4 mile from ground zero - the relative safety of Kansas is looking inviting. On the way, though, stopping World War III may have to take priority.

GREAT AND EXCITING READ - February 29, 2008 - R. G. Johnson (Amazon)

"McCurdy has written a book that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole read! His characters are real and not wooden, the plot is riveting, and to think the whole thing is based on an actual event is frightening! A MUST READ. "

WOW, February 29, 2008 - Cheryl H. (Amazon)

"The night before the historic resignation of US President Nixon, the Soviet Union jeopardized both countries into what could have been a nuclear holocaust. Nixon and his entire staff were in an upheaval because of his Watergate Scandal so there were many actions that they could have opted for but it was one man who literally saved the world that night. Unbelievable book to say the least!"

THRILLS & HISTORY - February 28, 2008 - L. Webster (Amazon)

"You've gotta agree that suspense and drama are made even more interesting when they're based on actual events. This book puts you in a location rarely written about -- A missile silo in (1974) -- right in the middle of the cold war. While school children were "ducking and covering", this novel depicts some of the actual events that could have changed history forever. I found that it was very easy to get lost in the story and find yourself down there in the hole with them."
